Cheshire Buskers Raising Money For Charity At Mobberley Home

There are many worthwhile causes, some of which we have donated to as an organisation over the years, but when it comes to commitment to a cause there aren’t many that manage to do it in such a way as Loose Change. They raise so much money, enjoy themselves in the process, and help bring cheer to so many others as well.

Perhaps you have been out and about around the county and seen and heard them yourselves? Well, I’m referring to this 25 member band of musicians who often play twice a week in aid of Cancer Charity – Cancer Research UK. For those of you who are followers of our youtube channel you might have seen Keith the MD, who has supported the same cause himself, at one of their Cheshire gigs. The video is below, and you can hear how good they are.

Over four and a half years the group has raised a staggering £178,000 for the national (cancer) charity, and members of the group are to perform at The Willows dementia nursing care home in Mobberley on Saturday, June 20.

The Willows is part of MHA, a charity providing care, accommodation and support services for more than 16,000 older people across Britain. Read more here..

They will be playing at the Methodist Homes summer fete in a few weekends time, so if you fancy hearing them live in person, take the road out of Knutsford and see them yourself.

The Willows home is a specialist dementia care home run by the charity that is hosting an open day at all of it’s homes around the country, as it is National Care Homes Open day, so there is sure to be entertainment, raffles, cakes and the like for those readers who live further afield in Cheshire.

Here’s a video of the National Care Home Open Day 2014 launched by Gloria Hunniford. It is important that care homes challenge the stigma of dementia and alzheimers, which affects many older people, and a summer event like this is the perfect opportunity to throw open the doors and for prospective families to visit too.

As part of the same Open Day scheme Sunrise, another well known Knutsford home, are hosting their annual art exhibition which features works that has all been produced by residents.  The creative arts like music, painting and sculpture can provide a welcome outlet for the elderly who might not be as mobile as they used to be, but can still take part in activities that provide valuable contributions to their mental and emotional well-being.
